I wouldn't say that Apple's docs are so bad- they're better than they were a few years back. Plenty of work to be done, but much has been done already.

There was a post on the Carbon list a month ago contrasting Apple's docs with M$'s, complete with a link. After I checked it out, I realized how good we have it ;)
