There is, I suppose, still the macosx-talk list managed by OmniGroup,
though I haven't checked that for a long time (I am not a subscriber).
It would really be a more appropriate forum for some of the recent
topics

Am I the only one who thinks that there should be a separate mailing
list, cocoa-talk, to which we could farm off the kinds of long-running
off-topic threads that we've been seeing here lately and which have

The official cocoa-dev page says:
The Cocoa Development list is for discussions regarding native Mac OS
X application development using the Cocoa Frameworks: Foundation and
Application Kit.

Clearly, we've been ranging far outside of this range off late, and
the sheer volume of off-topic postings is starting to reduce the value
of the list.
How about a concerted effort to keep things on topic, and conduct
discussions in the appropriate forums?
Cheers
