I want to add capability of editing/extracting resources from resource files, e.g. Mac OS 9 resources. Which is the easiest way of going about this?

Nathan Day has written a great set of Cocoa classes for working with resource files. I'd definitely urge you to check those out.

However, note that last I checked he had an older version on his web site (sorry, don't remember the URL), so if the version you download doesn't support querying how many and what resources are in a file, e-mail him so he puts up the new stuff.
