New Panther UI Widgets?

So I notice in screenshots here and there that there are a few changes
to the UI. For one, Apple seems to have abandoned the venerable
NSTabView, and instead have a FinderViewMultiButtonThingInARoundedRect
(should there be an NS on that?). Is this truly a new UI widget, or is
it the new face on NSTabView? If it's new, is it available in Cocoa?
