After doing all that investigative work, I think *you* should be the one
to decide on the standard. Let us know, and I'll honour your decision in
any apps I create which use such coloured rows. :)

(I personally think that making the first row coloured looks better,
since it provides contrast with the table column headers, most of which
are almost-white and only one of which will be blue. It just seems more
visually balanced overall to make the first row coloured. But don't lose
any sleep over it.)
