NSTableView "non-columns"

If you open up find in Jaguar and do a search, or go to radio in iTunes, you will notice that the rightmost column of the tableview is not really a column. It cannot be selected, and expands or retracts when needed, and disappears if not needed. I would like to have this same effect. In my application one can add columns, so it would be nice to have that little spacer column there for when there are not enough columns to fit the tableview, but have it go away when there are enough or more. Does anyone know how this is done?

Thank you in advance
