nstoolbar and preferences

I'm making a preferences panel for my application, and I would like it to be like that of System Preferences or Camino's (formerly Chimera). In both of these when you say "view all" you see all the preferences by type, and it allows you to drag them to the toolbar. How can this be implemented? Is there some sort of drag operation for nstoolbaritems?
