This sounds like a good idea. When I was looking for a socket library, I couldn't find one that met my need so eventually I wrote my own (AsyncSocket at http://homepage.mac.com/d.j.v.). I really don't think anyone else needs to go through that; there's plenty of libraries out there now.

Speaking as the author of one of the many, many sockets frameworks available for Cocoa, maybe a sockets framework shootout is in order? Of course I'm biased ;-) Joking aside, each of the available frameworks is well suited for different applications. Since users (esp. newbies) have so many choices, an article describing the pros and cons of each of the various socket classes would probably be helpful. Possibly this could be a Stepwise article, Mr. Anguish?
