I am creating some files, and would like to write something to the comment

how to do this, so a point in the right direction would be great. Also, I am
not sure on this, but is it possible to read those "comments" back in? I
would think if you could write them, you could read them.

You have to use Carbon. See <http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/mac/MoreToolbox/MoreToolbox- 485.html>. This documentation is pre-OS X, so you'll also want to review the Carbon version of the functions at <file:///Developer/Documentation/Carbon/Files/FileManager/File_Manager/ Functions/FunctionGroups.html>.
