I think the original question was on topic inasmuch as it went something
like: 'There is some weird stuff coming through the cocoa-dev listserv
which is hampering my efforts to become a _truly_ great Cocoa developer.
Is it affecting anyone else?' But it now seems likely that this was a
semi-singularity and therefore off-topic.
Denis Stanton's nearly instant reply probably hit the nail on the head:
the problem is almost certainly in the cached thumbnail and Mail.app's
inability to handle it appropriately.
Unfortunately deleting
~/Library/caches/com.apple.addressservices/photos/email@hidden
and
~/Library/caches/com.apple.addressservices/photos/email@hidden
didn't do the trick I hoped for. As soon as I try to read one of their
messages their thumbnail file is re-instantiated in its old form: which
is to say that Denis appears as a harmless yellow line while Oscar
summons the beachball.
If anyone can help, please do contact me in a reduced-bandwidth off-list
manner. (Yes I did try emptying the trash then logging out and back in
to be on the safe side.)
Of course if others are suffering similar woes that would reinstate this
as a list issue.
Cheers
Ian
