Menus with ALT a la Finder

I just (really, just a few minutes ago) noticed, that if you keep "alt"
pressed while a Finder menu is opened, some of the menu entries will
change dynamically. (I suppose old time Macians will groan over this
"discovery").
Offhand I see no way to duplicate this in Cocaa, is this right ?
