Chris,
You can integrate FileStorm into your build process, as it's fully AppleScriptable. This includes setting the background, positioning files, sizing the window, compressing/encoding the disk image, and/or burning the disk image to disk. I'm sure I probably left some things out, but I'd recommend you give it a try.

Is that something that could be done in a script? Ideally sh, but
AppleScript if necessary? I'd like to be able to fully automate the
production of a release product inside a dmg (from Project
Builder/pbxbuild), and it seems that one can get *close*, except for this
part.
