how a new technology works. Sometimes a given API has no sense if not
connected to a different API of a different framework. So a developer
cannot
understand the meaning of the API if there is not sample code
explaining the
use of the API.
If someone isn't getting what they feel they should be getting out of
the documentation, then they should probably file a bug.
If an API has a relationship with another API, that should be
documented. It's especially important that conceptual documentation
cover this as completely as possible. If you see something missing
it's likely not on purpose. And sample code, or rather documentation
that explains how to do "blah" falls into this category.
Some examples of things that should be submitted as bugs/enhancements
- Need a task to explain how to put views into NSTableView cells
- How do I make the rows in my NSTableView alternate colors
- Need example of how to create an NSFormatter
- How do these PoitNarf framework classes fit together?
You can also provide feedback to Tech Pubs via
http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/techpubsfeedback.html
I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record about filing
documentation bugs. But that is what causes things to get fixed or
enhanced. I file what I can see here, but it's difficult to read all
the content and comprehend the issues involved on this list (and still
get my work done :-)
I'm pretty sure that there will be a Tech Pubs feedback forum at WWDC.
If you have a major concern, that's a place to voice it in person.
Also every session has Tech Pubs people on the Q&A panel.
BTW.. I'm not speaking for Apple...
