I have encountered a very odd problem. When I try and run the Help
system from my application I've written under Mac OS 10.1, it crashes
the Help Viewer. After that, when I try and run Help Viewer, it just
keeps crashing. I did figure out how to refix Help Viewer by going to
~/Library/Documentation/Help/ and erasing the file created by my
application (MyApp Help). Once I erase this file and log out then log
back in, Help Viewer works again.
This application was originally designed under 10.2, and the Help
Viewer works just fine under Jaguar, but when I bring it over to 10.1,
it crashes the Help Viewer. I even cleaned the project and rebuilt it,
but it keeps crashing Help Viewer. I'm very confused why this is
happening. I don't recall having done anything very different from
what I've normally done with past applications which haven't shown this
problem. I'm hoping someone else has experienced this problem and
found a solution.
Help Viewer is one of the worst quality applications to ever come out
of Apple. It's slow, crashes, looks bad, and doesn't work correctly.
It still sucks even in 10.2. I haven't tested under 10.3 yet, but I
heard it still has problems.
Open your help files in a web browser instead. Not a good solution,
but there's not much you can do.
