I've noticed that the Help Viewer under 10.1 was very sluggish, not nearly as responsive as under 10.2. Even when formatting larger help pages, it took quite a few seconds to load. I did eventually resolve my problem. For some unknown reason, Help Viewer did not like one of the files in my Help folder. I carefully copied and pasted several different files until I narrowed it down to one file, which was around 1000 lines of text, which might have been the problem (too much information). The good news is that I did get the problem fixed, but it does lead to the suggestion to just use a web browser instead for a help system.

Help Viewer is one of the worst quality applications to ever come out

It still sucks even in 10.2. I haven't tested under 10.3 yet, but I
heard it still has problems.

Open your help files in a web browser instead. Not a good solution,
but there's not much you can do.
