Thanks for all the responses, pointing to what would have been obvious had I
given up my obsession with the name for the spinning indicator. :)
I have posted a sample app that shows the two styles of NSProgressIndicator.
It also shows the spinning rainbow pizza (aka spinning beachball of death),
which is why I call it "TestRainbowCursor":
