NSPopUpButtonCell in a Tableview not getting focus

Hi all,
I have an NSOutlineView with one column containing NSPopUpButtonCells. When editing, tabbing to the text fields works fine, but when i tab over to the NSPopUpButtonCell, instead of the cell getting focus(outlined in blue, so you can press space to open up the menu and select your value) the focus just seems to disappear.
I'm sure i've seen this working in one app or another, but i've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to do it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
