Accepting a proxy-icon drop

Beginner question: is there anything special I have to do to accept a folder (or document) proxy icon drop from the Finder? I have a popup menu that shows potential download sites, and want to be able to drop a proxy on that to set it. (the project is the Camino Navigation preference pane)
