My problem is that I did get used to that, but I started then to do the
same for personal mail as a reflex, and that wasn't good (but only
natural).
I didn't intend for this to be a thread on the ML, I sent my Mail to
the list-owner and only cc'ed it to the list in case there's no-one
checking the list-owner alias.
I think the reasons given by Apple are just plain wrong. I think it's
cut'n'pasted from some general policy that may apply very well to some
lists, but certainly not this one.
And I think their survey material is outdated or from another list (or
perhaps even made up) when they write: "Our experience is that most
users do not want this done to the lists" and "we have done multiple
surveys of the list users about the issue".
Maybe I should setup my own survey and send them the data! :)
We did manage to get them to fix the stripping of non-ASCII characters
and we did manage to get a search added to the list archive. So my hope
was that letting them know (list-owner that is) that a policy change is
requested for good reason may reconsider treating us as we have never
used Email before and do not know that a ML list reply is sent to the
ML.
Sorry about the noise this has caused (if it did, 75% of the replies
doesn't seem to be cc'ed to the list ;) )!
