The original poster's question was about installing an application and a framework. It is _not_ necessary for those files to be placed in "certain locations," as the framework can and should be placed in the app's bundle not anywhere else.

Apple isn't violating it's own HIG and apple packages don't complicate, they
make things simplier.

Unless the Apple installer needs to place frameworks or other files in /System (as they occasionally do) there is no reason for them to use installer packages either. It violates their HIG because they say the simplest way to do it is to use drag and drop yet they never adhere to that themselves.

It's time to put this to rest, too many opinions on a non-related topic.

This topic is very related to Cocoa development.
