It actually is. You can't just change your "Leitbild". This was
defined with the foundation of GNUstep. You might propose, that the
aim of GNUstep might be to follow every step Apple makes with Cocoa,
in order that people like you might port their applications without
helping out.
This is exactly my point, thanks for making it for me. The fact that
this is even at issue is a serious problem with GNUstep and something
that holds it back -- it certainly keeps some Mac OS X developers away.
The other thing is the lack of trivial Windows support.
The whole gnustep-base runs on Windows, GDL2, GSWeb, an ObjC-XML
parser (gsantlr) and many other things. Is that a lack of trivial
support?
Is it available as a single zip file that can be downloaded and
installed by double-clicking a set-up file, creating an environment
developers can immediately start working in (albeit possibly without
graphical development tools)?
Is there a runtime distribution available that application developers
can include in their Windows installer?
This is what I mean by "trivial Windows support." Making it trivial
for developers to get started with.
