This is how these names originated. Make sure you are classifying and
advertising your software correctly.
I disagree with your definition of shareware. In my experience,
shareware has historically referred to software made by individuals, as
opposed to corporations, without a store-based distribution model. You
were supposed to share it with your friends, hence the name. Many,
though not all, shareware products have been crippled or time-limited
to encourage you to register them. With widespread access to the
internet, the person-to-person sharing aspect has largely vanished, and
many commercial products have moved to electronic distribution systems,
increasingly blurring the line between shareware and commercial demos
that can be unlocked into the full product with a payment.
