Any ideas on how to replace the authorization window with custom application? I believe that Sony's biometric has done it.

If you mean extend authorisation services so as to support alternate methods, e.g. biometrics, smart cards, etc, then I'm not sure there's any official way to do so, at least not in 10.3. Rumours indicate there is some support for login authentication via these methods (for US government purposes), but they may still just be rumours at this point.

Be careful with the idea of casually replacing the authorization window, whether system wide or in a particular application - there are many reasons why the system provides a generic authentication and authorisation scheme, and why they should be used.
