XCode tends to be very sluggish when the same file is open for editing in several windows (ie a debug window and an editor window). I noticed this here on a dual 1Ghz G4 with 1.5Gb of RAM (so I guess swap is not the issue ;-) )

This happens to me quite regularly. When it starts, I just close & reopen the project. Closing other windows that edit the same files is sometimes not enough (though I didn't pay close attention to the details of this bug).

Just closing the Debug window is not enough. You need to change the file within Debug window to some other file. This is really bothersome.
