Is there such a thing as Apple Developer Certification for Cocoa developers?

No.

Thankfully. IMHO these certifications are little more than extortion.

Ironically, Aaron Hillegass' (he, of course, runs his own training at Big Nerd Ranch), but most of the others do too (see list at <http://www.alastairs-place.net/cocoa/faq.txt>). I'll readily admit to bias, but I don't think a book is a substitute for a good training course...

Good training course, yes.

Do you have a project in mind when you take the class? If yes, that's great, because you can think about how to apply what you learn (if you're fast, you can even get started during the class). If not, there's a risk that you won't pay enough attention or that you'll forget some things before you get a chance to use them.

I don't know about the current Apple's Cocoa classes, but judging from the current WebObjects classes, and from the past (following and later teaching NeXTSTEP programming classes) they should be good. And of course, Big Nerd Ranch classes are well spoken off.
