Perhaps you just ask hard questions? [...]

Another possibility is that you write bad subjects. I delete at least half the messages sent to this list (w/o reading) because the subject makes no sense or sounds like a STFW/RTFM type of question. The subject for this thread is a good example of such a bad subject, I only read it because it sounded so depressing...

I have already taken a karma hit for this before, but anyway, a great article about writing subjects is here: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/980906.html

Alastair (if you are listening): perhaps we could dedicate the intro of your FAQ to writing letters for this list? I know that there already is such a FAQ <http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html> but it is very long, targeted at non-technical people and does not touch upon the problems I see at this list (which at least makes me skip the question) -- I would like to volunteer writing a first draft of such a FAQ entry if you are interested.

I only ask questions on this list after I've searched around and just can't find an answer, and I never get any answers for my questions either. I wish there was a email@hidden or similar.

I am afraid that is another reason... there was a Cocoa-Pro list, but I do not think it improved the situation much for most -- personally, if I got a reply there, it was probably just someone misunderstanding the question and then giving an arrogant reply.

The most successful resource for me has been the Cocoa Discussions page at the CocoaDev wiki, see <http://cocoadev.com/index.pl?CocoaDiscussions>.

[...] If not, it's still unlikely that you've offended anyone. At least I can't imagine anyone on this list would withhold information because of a grudge.

Don't be so sure! I am almost certain that I managed to (unintentionally) offend two people from this list, and one does indeed seem to ignore my letters -- but I am probably special in that way ;)
