My two shareware apps are both inspired by my wife: she once told me she missed minesweeper from work, and another time she said "I want my computer to show me all of Meg Ryan's hair styles". The first suggestion led to a minesweeper knock off that has been a lot of fun to "evolve" and the second led to the "Meg Ryan hair-o-meter" which later became a web spider slash image browser.

I'm scared to ask her for any other ideas, however. I'm something of a newbie programmer.

Hey all!

Ok, i know this is a very off-topic issue, but i assume, since we're all developers here, we've all had (are having) this problem.

At the moment i am a student, and every now and then, i have some spare time. When i do, most of the time, I'm craving for something to code, but i totally lack the inspiration to do so. I consider myself a well, pretty skilled coder, and the basic applications are not enough anymore. So i am seeking challenge.

My question, as yall are probably able to guess, is what do you guys do to obtain inspiration? We all know sitting mindless behind our overly cool macs, most of the time doesn't inspire, but then, what does?
