How about some good music :)

That and a comfortable chair, and I'm usually set. Distractions are also one thing to avoid. So sometimes I'll close al my chat programs, or go away and resist opening up a chat session with an old friend.

I usually code best, when it's absolutely quiet, which tends to be late and gets me in trouble :) (I'm 24, but still live with my parents)

Also the infamous doodle on a sheet of paper, with the objective of coming up with a cool idea for something to code, works for me at times.

I usually get the idea, chart it out, then proceed to code it :)

Hey all!

Ok, i know this is a very off-topic issue, but i assume, since we're all developers here, we've all had (are having) this problem.

At the moment i am a student, and every now and then, i have some spare time. When i do, most of the time, I'm craving for something to code, but i totally lack the inspiration to do so. I consider myself a well, pretty skilled coder, and the basic applications are not enough anymore. So i am seeking challenge.

My question, as yall are probably able to guess, is what do you guys do to obtain inspiration? We all know sitting mindless behind our overly cool macs, most of the time doesn't inspire, but then, what does?

With kind regards,
