My question, as yall are probably able to guess, is what do you guys do to obtain inspiration? We all know sitting mindless behind our overly cool macs, most of the time doesn't inspire, but then, what does?

I figure there are three inspiring drives. First, scratching an itch. Second, making moolah. Third, community service.

Scratching an itch kind of inspires itself. Making money is less of an inspiration than a motivation; the inspiration comes in realizing an untapped market. As for community service -- that is, writing something because it needs to be written, not because you have an itch to scratch -- it may be the least motivating, but it is easy to know what to work on; just say "hey, what sucks or is missing? I'll try to fix it," and the ideas will come rolling in.
