What about legacy file formats without any built in support for meta
data, like perhaps TXT? I guess that the answer is that they're going
to be supported only in the most basic way (date created, et.c.) by
Spotlight?
Did you skip the Spotlight sessions? :)
You're not constrained by the format. Whatever information you (as the
author of an importer) can infer from the file programmatically can be
fed to Spotlight.
What John's saying is that Spotlight isn't a resource repository
(packages are). It's designed to serve the user's information
organization needs.
