What I mean is that NSTextView won't accept directly-typed Symbol font
characters (that's what I meant by "directly accessible" in the
Subject line, and also what is referred to in the quote from Ali Ozer).
In other words, choosing the Symbol font from the Font Panel and simply
typing in symbols.
Does anyone have any advice on how to let users put symbols in their
text?
Using the Character Palette?
That's about as user-friendly as a rusty spike up the arse. As Ali Ozer
said, "Apple is also looking at ways to make Symbol and other Dingbat
entry a lot more straightforward in Jaguar." Seems like they didn't
look very hard.
The reason I brought this up is that a user reported his inability to
get symbols by choosing Symbol from the Font Panel as a bug in my
application. He's right - it is (in effect) a bug. Just not my bug.
Regards,
Jeremy
