For reasons I can't mention in public, I can say that others definitely
have seen a benefit. Small, but measurable. In addition, you'll
probably be unnecessarily increasing the memory footprint of your
application (given this technique, for non-English locales you'll have
two strings in memory for every one displayed).
Moreover, the technique described won't work for bindings, or make it
easy for you to customise layout when it proves necessary.
