Is this a reference to 1.5, or to some "update to 1.5" ?
I have 1.5 - I've recently re-installed it from scratch because of another
application corruption issue to do with the debugger misbehaving.

Yep. When it crashes, the resulting .nib files are toast (when you open
them, Interface Builder just prompts you if you want a new one or not?) so
I've been discarding and recopying from my ResKnife archive which I
downloaded and have keep pristine. Its a pain in the butt having to
re-apply the same edits over and over.
As I say, I'll double-check this again - perhaps the preference hasn't
actually been written out due to one or more of the crashes...
