1. I want to pass another object as argument.
You could pass it in the "user info" dictionary.
Thats probably the best solution.
2. Not every object receiving the notification knows which document
it belongs to. I could set this up but it would be rather complex.
Then how did you plan to set up the separate notification centers? If
the listener doesn't know about the document it's supposed to monitor,
how did you plan to allow it to recognize it?
I'm sure you can find a design where you can tie this together. Be
creative!
I wasn't planning, I was asking. It seems like limiting notifications
to one document would be a fairly common problem, that perhaps was part
of the cocoa design, perhaps as part of NSDocument or one of its
related classes. When browsing through the documentation and other
helpful sites without finding any solution I post a question to this
helpful community.
I can always be creative, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.
