Thomas is right, it is very bad for you to do this, users will put your
app in the dock if they want to, the user should be in charge of their
computer, this is a fundamental rule.

Sadly, Apple does/did do this.. when you update your OS, it sticks a
bunch of things in the dock, like Mail, AddressBook, iTunes, and other
things I don't want.
