Yes, I realize this, but if you need to swap views not known about at design time (such as views loaded from plugins) then you can't use a tab view. But judging from the question, a tab view probably suffices for this situation.

That's basically all that NSTabView is doing when you hide the tabs. It just manages the hassle for you.
