Yeah. That's not a bad walk. And being an ex-SF'r, I agree with the
comments in general. Don't get a car. Use BART. BART to/from SFO and
to/from hotels if you are staying a ways off. Avoid Muni busses.
They're not a reasonable way for an out-of-towner to navigate the city
imo. For one thing, they don't even try to run on a schedule.
Sorry to continue the off-topic thread, but another nugget of info for
those not used to SF or the SOMA area (where Moscone is located),
you'll probably want to avoid 6th street. Don't rent a hotel on 6th
(they're all flops) and only walk it between Market and Howard if you
are ready for an experience. Most everything else in a reasonable
radius of Moscone, while possibly seedy, isn't nearly as bizzare and
sketchy to out-of-towners.
The hotels on 7th and 8th are fine and the walk is mostly ok--you'll
just get a taste of the 6th street fun as you cross it--and its even
more fun at midnight. "Hey baybeee"
On the other hand, Tu Lan is on 6th street and is _awesome_ cheap
vietnamese. Brave the street and enjoy :)
