Refresh bug in AppKit on OS X 10.4.x?

Is there a known AppKit refresh bug which would have been introduced in Mac OS X 10.4?

I'm observing some refresh drawing issues on 10.4 only when calling setStringValue: (NSTextField) from a NSNotification callback when a modal dialog is running.

I do not observe this problem on 10.3.

Basically, the problem is that the superview of the NSTextField is not refreshed properly or completely.

Quartz Extreme 2D disabled AFAIK.
