CF stands for Core Foundation.

Do you happen to know of any sample code integrating CFSocket with a Cocoa event loop?

I don't know of sample code, but I think you just need to create a CFRunLoopSource for it and add it to the underlying CFRunLoop behind NSRunLoop.
