Thanks for the responses!

I can reproduce this issue every time:

Steps to repro:

1. Make a new empty Project.
2. Add a group folder named "Classes" to the project, and select a physical directory for it on your machine (create a new one if nec.)
3. Add a new Empty File to the Project by right-clicking on "Classes". Name it "Test.as". (actionscript file, dunno if it happens with other extensions as well)
This should save "Test.as" to the Classes directory on your machine.
3a. Add some text to the file. (just for distinction purposes) and save it.
4. Rename "Test.as" to "Test_bu.as".
5. Copy the contents of "Test_bu.as".
6. Create a new file (see Step 3) and name it Test.as.

Result:
You don't even need the clipboard contents, since the new "Test.as" has the code from the old one!
Thing is... if you edit the new one, "Test_bu.as" also changes (see it becoming gray in the g&f bar). It is as if they're linked.

What's this called? A bug?
Definitely *not* intuitive and probably rather dangerous.

Cheers,
Phil

I've seen some similar wierd behaviours, but haven't been able to reproduce them:

* Changing the path on some header files lost them for compile purposes until I removed them and re-added them, even though the editor could find them.

* Restoring some previously deleted files from CVS caused the files in the editor to actually point to different files on disk.

eg:

Rename A.m to B.m in XCode 1.5 IDE.
Restore A.m from CVS.
Add A.m to project.
File called A.m in IDE shows contents of B.m. Changing "A.m" actually changes B.m! A.m on disk is unchanged.

Good thing I'd already backed up B.m, so could easily restore it from CVS.
