Can anyone suggest where I should start looking to find my bug?  Why
would archiving and unarchiving the object affect my ability to edit
it?

If it were me I'd be assuming that I'd made a really daft error, such as getting the table data source names around the wrong way (not that I'm saying you've made such a mistake!). Could you post the code that adds line(s) to the tables?


Do the tables display properly in your loaded document?
