thx, this works now.
i know that there is no need to lock the folder, i was just experimenting with SetFile, but now I have a folder that i can not remove nor unlock it using SetFile. Any ideas how i could remove this folder?

okay, this is not really cocoa related, by i didn't know where to ask.

I want to release my app on a disk image and want to set the background image to be an invisible file.

I started up SetFile with the -a V parameter, it runs fine, but nothing changes, the file is still visible.

I even logged out and back in for the Finder to register the changes, but the file is still visible.

To see if SetFile is working at all I tried to set the Locked attribute on a folder on my Desktop using the -a L. This worked. But using -a l does not unlock the folder again, so I can't even remove the folder (an empty folder btw).

So there's actually two problems I'm having, can anyone help me out please?

I hide my folder backgrounds in a top level directory named ".Pictures" on the Disk Image (which makes it invisible to the Finder without all the SetFile hassles). No need to lock a folder.

Hope this helps!

michael
