:)

Hi Joar,

So far, all I have is a toolbar and a webview. The toolbar has one custom view in IB. The webview is also created with IB. I was reading through the archives and someone suggested creating webviews programmatically by placing them in a custom view. That didn't seem necessary but I wanted to make sure.

The main things I'd be creating are different views, menus, and toolbars.

I was also curious, I'm sure there's a way to access any view or control from another document in a NSDocument app? Like if I want to see what files are edited in another window, see what URL is loaded in another webview, or even access any variable in another document?
I probably won't be needing to know for at least a few weeks; I could probably find the answer myself by then.

Thanks.

Gary

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying, or what they're suggesting.

Every window has a "content view", ie. a top level view where all other views in the window reside. I don't see why you would need to add any other view to serve as a "container for all user controls" - unless there's something you're not telling us about your requirements?

If I want to programmatically create all views, is this the best way?

The best way to do what? If you want to create the whole UI programmatically, you don't have to use IB or nib files at all.

Do I even need a custom view?

In general I wouldn't say that you do.

If I want to do even everything without Interface Builder, is that the way?

Why would you want that?
