To bring this back on topic: I agree with the guideline as it currently stands and I am interested in having my Cocoa application follow it, regardless of whether other people agree with this guideline or what Apple needs to fix or whether capitalization matters in other languages. The fact that it matters in one language - especially a very popular one - is enough for me.

I'm a little surprised that no one else has tackled this. It seems to me from the documentation that the way to go is to override NSDocument's -displayName method. If anyone knows better, please let me know. Once I get it working I'll make the code available.
