I can't speak for whether or not this is a Cocoa topic or if it's best suited for another list. I'll give my opinion of your goal either way:


Quite simply put, overriding this is a bad idea. It's running at whatever speed for a very good reason. If it's always on or you feel it's running excessively, contact Apple; there may be a problem. Overriding it and shutting down / slowing the fan forcibly could *potentially* result in damage (overheating). DON'T DO THIS.
