Multiple value placeholder for NSImageView with value binding?

According to the documentation (and the IB inspector) there is no
multiple value placeholder available for NSImageView when using the
value binding.
Is there otherwise a way to substitute an image when there are
multiple values and still take advantage of the value binding, or
must I handle the image view completely in the non-binding way?
