This is probably due to the LCD antialiasing style, which also causes
some text to appear "superbold" (i.e. white text on a black background).
IMO the LCD style is too ugly to use because of issues like this--
typically, if it's rendering black text on a white background, it
looks great, but any other combination is awful.
Try CRT antialiasing style and I bet the problem is solved.
