Storing TableView's highlighted column & sort order in a preference

  • Subject: Storing TableView's highlighted column & sort order in a preference

I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times, but I can't seem to find a answer in the archives...

I'm trying to store a tableview's highlighted column & it's sorting order (ascending / descending) in a preference.
However, while I can highlight a column's header (setHighlightedTableColumn:) it doesn't set the sort image, nor does it sort.
It's clear that it's not intended to. However is there any method that can?

If not what's a method for getting & setting this information?

- Lee
