Reading multi-frame TIFF's

  • Subject: Reading multi-frame TIFF's

We have been looking into reading in multi-frame tiff files in an imaging application. NSBitmapImageRep works great, but it's not obvious how (or whether) multi-frame TIFF's are supported.

I saw there was some discussion of this back in November of 2004, but seems like there was no definitive solution. Anyone have any insight into this? We could read folders of single-frame TIFF's, but it would be great to store this in a single file.

I noticed that Preview.app can load these and displays the frames as separate pages. I wonder how Apple does this? Preview _is_ a Cocoa app. Wonder if some QuickTime API might be involved instead?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Rick Hoge
