Many thanks for the reply, much appreciated. After a
little more hunting through the docs, I have decided
to offer an option in preferences to have all of the
stuff that slows down typing in battery mode (keeping
note views in line with the main text) done only when
the user stops typing. I'm using NSNotificationQueue
for this, and it works very nicely. This option will
be off by default, and I will do as you suggest - put
a note in the readme or help file telling users that
if they encounter slowdown in battery mode, either to
switch this option or to disable reduced CPU mode. At
least this way they have the option to reserve battery
power if they are on a long journey (or, as the app is
aimed at writers, if they just want to spend six hours
sitting in a cafe).
Thanks again,
Keith
